Cody and Mommy's Day of Fun

Today was my last official day of summer break. While I am not looking forward to leaving Cody, I always get a little excited about the start of a new school year. I think about the changes I will make in my classroom and instruction...I think about what worked last year and what did not. This year will be the first year I start the school year as a "mom". So..right about now I'm thinking about how much I will miss being home with Cody.

Since today was my last "business" day home with Cody, I wanted it to be special. I told Joe last night that I wanted to have a day of fun. (Like the "Friend's" TV show episode where Joey can't stand Chandler's girlfriend Janice. So, Janice decides to have..Joey and Janice's Day of Fun).So today was..."Mommy and Cody's Day of FUN!" We ate breakfast this morning and played with toys and dogs. I watched my usual morning TV...Good morning America, Regis & Kelly. I dropped off some papers at school and then it was time for lunch. Cody and I had lunch at Cherub's in Belmont..I had a chicken salad pita and salad. Cody just begged for ice cream, so of course I got him some. We took our ice cream and strolled to the park. We sat under a large shade tree and shared cookies-n-cream ice cream. After "Cody's" ice cream fix, it was time to swing. So I put Cody in a bucket seat swing and pushed. He loved it....he just took everything in. It's amazing how in-tune babies are with their surroundings. Cody noticed everything from the child swinging beside him to a family picnicking on a hill in the distance.
Again...another lesson I've learned from being a mom...

The lesson: Slow down...take time to enjoy God's creation.

Its amazing what all you can see at the park if you really take time to notice...families together, children playing, "coffee shop" people reading books and drinking coffee, squirrels and birds looking for leftover picnic scraps. As I was looking, I spotted my favorite thing...of course it was Cody. He's God's most beautiful creation.

Tired...

I am so tired today..Today and yesterday I had to help train teachers in a new computer program with Gaston Co. Schools. It was a success and went well, but whoo...I'm tired. As a teacher, its so hard to get back into the swing of things after summer break. Especially this year. This will be the first school year I start back as a "mom". It really puts a different perspective on things. I'd just like to take this time to say...I'm tired. (Praise God anyways!!)

Clinging: The good, the bad, the ugly

My son is now 10 months old and is officially a "moma's boy". As we speak he is clinging to me, haning onto my shirt, stretching it from here to eternity. The good: to be honest with you..most of the time I love it. It feels good to be needed and wanted the most out of everyone. The bad: when I'm with Cody all day and he happens to be very clingy, it can wear on your nerves...its very hard to get anything done. The ugly: there's nothing ugly about cody, but when he does cling to me..watch out hair..I'm a mess when he's finished.

Shouldn't we serve God the same way? Clinging to him for every need...when we're happy, sad, or just tired. Wanting God out of everything else in the world...wanting to serve him above everything. God has already taught me so much about his love for me through being a mommy. I look foward to the many lessons to come.

By the way...have you told Yo' Moma you love her today? Were any of you Moma's boys or for that matter Daddy's girls?

Yo Moma Blogs

Hello all,
I am a first time blogger!! Do I get a prize or something? I'll be looking in the mail. I am excited about this whole blogging thing...my husband is a little freaked out by it, but I'm sure in a couple of months, I'll have him blogging too! This is a picture of me and my son, Cody. He is my red-headed angel! This is a picture from his first trip to see our covered bridge in Lake Lure.( I'll blog about that one later).I'd like to thank my small group at Catawba Heights for their support in my "yo moma" jokes, therefore this Blog is "your mother blogs". My mother actually does not blog, neither does my mother-in-law. Does yo moma?
